Car Trouble 91 civic

WoW last nite was such a pain in the ***,my civic broke down on me. Heres what happened. Was drivin along the road trying to find this party..Well we noticed that we didn't have much gas left so we decided to turn around and get some gas well half way down the road the lights and all the interior lights started to go dimmer and the cd player shut off, after that everything that was power shut down and the car started to make this funny sound like it was boggin and it also sounded like it was out of gas.. Well after pushin the car to a parking lot we went to get some gas down the road. Fill the tank up and started the car.. Did the same thing as before so we decided to leave the car there for the nite...

What you think is wrong, battery needs to be replaced, alternator needs to be replaced or is the computer messed up.. Need Help ASAP...Thanks Alot

hmmmm...battery could be toast and that would cause alternator failure...the bogging down and the funny sound, sounds like somethin ignition wise which would ultimatly be battery/power related...no electricity, no spark, no spark, no ignition, no ignition, no power...check the battery first, bring one from home and give that a whirl (this cold weather likes to freeze batteries)...and it was the battery dont be suprised if the alternator decides to take a jump in the lake a couple weeks later...thats all I can think of now

if it's the alternator the battery light should be on....right?
unless that bulb is busted.

so my guess it's the battery.

yea...the alternator light would have come on...but most likely it was the battery...but dont be suprised if the alternator goes now from constantly charging a dead battery

check if its your alt

grab a multi meter

check voltage when car is off, should be around 11-12v, then check again when car is running if you dont see a jump to around 13-14 your alt is dead or dying
