car stalls, help me plz

I have this problem with my civic, its a 98 dx couple. when I drive the car it keeps stalling..but only at low rpms when I am trying to get the car to start moving and also if I rev the car. with the reving it doesnt stall if I accelarate slowly but if I quickly tap the gas it starts to stall or it will stall. I run premium octane gas. I tihnk its the Catalytic Converter..but I am open to suggestions..I dont want to spend the 300 bucks on the cat if it isnt the cat...btw its the header mounted cat. if anyone has any ideas or advice let me know. thanks

the cat?
Sounds like time for a tune-up. Try changing the fuel filter first, well i guess that would be considered part of a tune-up.

just take it to a shop i guess would be ur best bet because since ur not sure on what it is u might end up spending more money on things u dont need right.. but if u got any friends that are machanics then ask them

the other thing that seems to be happening is that under 2000 rpm the car will hop..or try and stall..but only under 2000 rpm and not always..

first thing u need to do is stop running premium gas in your 98 dx motor. Its designed to run on 86 octane and above, so stick with 87 octane, the next closest thing. Premium gas does 2 things. 1) It makes it harder for you car to burn the gas, and 2) its makes you wallet lighter.

Why spend your money on premium gas, when you don't need it???

At first read it looks like you don't know how to drive 5 spd..
(If it's 5spd that is..)

Is there any ECU codes?

your motor needs: 1) air 2) fuel 3) spark to run, check those first.

do not run premium, it does absoltely nothing in your car. change your plugs, it will cost you a few dollars, get a new filter, i dont know when you replaced your distributor rotor and cap last, but maybe you should look into that.

Bar none, the easiest way to diagnose is to get some codes off your ECU. It sounds like you may have a bad MAF (aka Air Flow Meter), but reading codes should be the first thing to do before dumping money. Good luck!
