Car not starting

I just installed a new gas tank... Everything is hooked up correctly and the car chugs for gas, but wont start. I almost had it going, it took off, but then died... Can anyone help?

I also wasnt aware of a harness underneath the rear seats... Do i have to rip my seats out? I dont believe i unpluged that when i took the old one out... Onless, this harnes is the one for the sending unit, which i did unplug. but from underneath the car... Am I thinking of the right thing? So this harness is underneath the rear seats inside the car, or is it the sending unit that hooks up underneath the car, if so, i hooked that back up.

My sending unit, the old one, had 3 wires, the new one i purchased had 4, so we cut one wire, that didnt match up 2 the other 3... Woudl this cause a problem? And does this mean, my problem is i need a new fuel pump/sending unit?

No one seems to have a solution.... This is weird... It was working with the old gas tank, so we installed a new one... Im thinking the problem is i dont have the correct fuel pump because the wires that go under the rear seat have 4 wires on the new fuel pump, where as my old one had 3... I think that is probably the problem. I hope it is...

Im not sure.. Because original the old lines that went from teh fuel pump only had 3 wires and they had a plug at the end... The new one that i got has 4 wires with a plug at the end, which I think i got the wrong one.

When you turn your car to accessory before you start, do you hear your fuel pump prime the lines? If not, I would probably say that you indeed have the wrong one, or wired it up incorrectly.

The car chugs for gass, but for some reason does not pump the gas through.. I talmost started, but then died, lost the power. Im thinking it is bc the new one i had, the electrical part of it, had 4 wires, the one they gave me, but the old one i toook out had 3, so im thinking thats the problem.

uhh. dude. you can get a whinebro 255 for $130 no problem, why would you go stock?

and the wiring.. you got gnd, pwr, and the fuel level sensor.. maybe the 4th is a ground for the sensor.

check your grounds and make sure all your wires are securely connected. sounds like you have sh..ty connections and just can't draw enough current.

or the pump is junk.

it's a really simple circuit, pull the sending unit out and you should be able to see where the wires go (two for the pump and 1/2 to the sensor)

hth.
