car not starting

hey guys
i recently purchased a 1990 civic and the car runs and works fine.
but two days ago i was washing the engine bay wit a hose while the car was running but i made shure it didnt touch any vital parts such as altenator etc. after i did that i turned the vehicle off and started it again and such and it would work.

BUT now when i turn the ignition to start it the car doesnt start up. It basically makes the normal engine start up sound but then it doesnt fully go thru to finish its cycle to start up. And if i keep tryin it a couple of times i hear like a type of backfire like a BLOOP.

i am jus wondering wat has caused this problem cuz i kno this car is old so i dunno if its because of wat i did or didnt do.
or if its starter motor is gone etc...
can someone help me out.
i am pretty shure the spark plugs etc are good cuz the car used to start like a brand new car 3 days ago.

alos the car is manual and its fuel injected

my old crx had huge issues with distributors... if they got even a little wet, it wouldn't turn over... I say pull the cap off, clean the contacts, spray some wd40 and see if that works.

Ya, I think you just got it a little wet... give it a few days in the sun and it'll start again The cranking-then backfire, that's cuz most cars like a really rich mixture when starting...so after it's almost flooded, it gives you a little cough But if it doesn't start after the initial 10 second crank... leave it immediately for at least 10 minutes. Have a smoke or something while you wait.
