car lowered..what to expect....
 

Well i bought brand new lowering springs off a guy here, "Progress" is the brand and they claim a 2.3" drop all around for 92-95 civics. Got them installed and it honestly doesn't look like a 2.3" drop. These are new, so should I be expecting some sort of break-in period over the next few months or whats the dealio?

heres pics..tires are 195/50/15 ..2.3" or no?

give it a week or two and they should settle, i've never seen anyone's car that was lowered on progress springs so i can't tell you what the drop will be like, but all new springs take time to settle

progress springs are quality springs.... if not the best .. give it some time to settle, mine took about a week or two to settle , amazing drop and comfort

to be honest i had never heard of Progress until i bought them, didnt know the quality but the price was right. The ride seems excellent and its on OEM shocks still! Ive had it lowered more than 2 weeks..its probably almost been a month. I might be getting thrown off from pics ive seen. I have 15" wheels but 195/50 tires..if anyone could post a pic of their 2" drop with 15" wheels i would much appreciate it!

progress suspension owns:D

btw; afttr a week or 2 (once the suspension settles) you should get an alignment;

Toe will be all outa wack and chances are you'll need a camber kit;

2.3" drop, you'll definately need a camber kit. also i would start saving for new shocks now bit by bit, cause at 2.3" i doubt stock will last long at all...especially if you have higher KM on them.

but nice choice, progress is quality **** and thats a pretty big drop.

yea get an alignment done, you shouldnt have too much camber problems with the front, you may have a little on the rear, but just tdo that washer trick and you shouldnt need a camber kit

yeah i realize i "should" get the alignment, i also "should" have got new shocks to go with it when installed...i have a feeling unless it becomes necessary i wont do either any time soon


but these progress springs are working great..yet still doesnt seem like a 2.3" drop to me..hummmm

measure a stock eg wheel well to tire hieght then measure yours

well if your on stock rims then its hard to notice sometimes. You should definetly feel it when you sit in the car. Give it some time like others say. Also what in the world is the washer trick?

I had progress springs on my 1.6 EL..

used some OEM Honda Civic SiR strust from my buddy and Progress Lowering springs..

funny enough, I had that setup for 2.5 years, even went through winter with them...

ride quality was like stock and the best part was it works well with my OEM shocks....it would have been even better I think if I had put aftermarket shocks.

Never got a camber kit either, juss an alignment and I had no camber problems at all.

all though I do miss these springs, I am lovin my Tein S.tech that I am currently on

take pictures of the whole car, but the drop looks good

did u do that drop on stock struts?

i have neuspeed race spring and they are 2.5 inche s and it looks about the same tire to fender gap as urs aswell,i wanted it to tuck but now that ive driven it for like 4 months im happy with the height.its low enough that u dont have to worry about every bump on the road but u still need to be careful of them.my ride on stock shocks isnt that bad aswell im getting shocks soon tho

yes it is currently on OEM honda struts.

i wanted the tuck thing to happen also. An upgrade in wheel size would do it, im thinking of going to 16's. My ride is still almost stock, i cant hit those speed bumps like i used to be able to...but im happy with the overall ride, no problems or bottoming out.

upgrading to a 16 or 17" wheel will not make it tuck as its the same overall diametre of the stock 13/14" wheel. it will look better but its the same 23.3-23.5" overall diametre as stock. unless you go alittle bigger, but 205/45/16 is the biggest (sidewall) that you can go to keep the speedo accurate, plus anything bigger then 205/45/16 will look odd with being that low. for 17" 205/45/17 could be done as well, but thats your max otherwise it wwill throw the speedo off, etc.

they will settle lower like bbarbulo said, probably what another 1/2 inch lower?

i have H&R sports and was like its not quite low enough, but then i saw another EL with same set-up that had settled and it was perfect for what i want. takes around 6 months to fully settle i've been told, so i'd give it some time. and i'd atleast get an alignment or you'll kill those tires quick. atleast with an alignment they can set it as close to possible to stock settings, then with the rear washer trick(search for rear washer trick) you can add some positive camber in the rear and just rotate the tires freq to have them wear atleast somewhat normal.

i have the progess springs on my EH on 15's and kyb agx's. i didnt need front camber kit even though i have it and running slight negative in the front. u will need it for the rear though.

the height looks right to me.

u will like the ride. its realy tight and handeling corners is fun.

u wont be disapointed with them
