car exhaust

just wondering, why is it that you can see some cars' exhaust fumes and others you can't? i'm not talking about the black puffs coming out of a broken down caddy, but just the regular exhaust.

i don't think the age of the car has anything to do with it cuz i've seen a couple of newer fords that shoot out quite a bit.........
