cant get my fuel filter off

if you've read my other thread my car is lugging around when the AC is on, ive decided to give it a tune up to maybe fix the problem and just for good measure.

but i cant get my damn fuel filter off. I don think it has EVER been changed. I AM using a nut wrench like you should, and its not doing jack all. I tried WD-40, still no go.

any tips to loosening this? i would try heating it but fire + fuel = bad.

Its damn tight sometimes. i used WD-40 and two wrenches and when it finally did let go, BAMMM my knuckles slammed into the firewall. don't think there is really a trick, force, pain, blood and lots of WD...and even more cursing

u are suppose to use line wrench to take off the fuel filters. The regular wrench will strip the nut.

ware gloves so you dont skin your knuckles when it lets go. sometimes a fuel filter wrench is good for holding the filter steady...

a flare nut wrench, yes i was using one.

This thing is on TIGHT, im worried about twisting the line which is unfortunatly made of metal

anyone know a good compound for un-seizing bolts?

ok the filter should have a hex shape on the other side somewhere too so you can hold the filter steady with one wrench and turn with the other wrench. no lines should get twisted, the brilliant engineers already thought of your predicament. yeah, nice padded work gloves are highly recommended!!!!

How did it go? for such an easy thing my CIvic was an absolute biyatch to change the Fuel Filter. Getting it back on and tight enough was my biggest problem. Kept leaking

the thing STILL wont come off. The only thing i havent tried is the compound to unseize it.

ive tried
-hammering it lightly to get any rust off inside
-boiling some water and pouring on it to expand the fitting
-2 wrenches together
-wd-40
-yelling at it
-spitting on it

im going to princess auto to get an exact 14mm flare nut wrench..because im using a 9/16, close, but not close enough for this job.

WD-40 doesn't do ****. If it's screwed in, not like the wd-40 gets into the threads.

maybe you're too weak

heheh, j/k.. Just get the right tools for it and make sure you hold everything straight as your struggling.. Hook on another wrench onto the 14mm and then try, so ya get more torque.

these are straight threads, therefore threads don't seal anything. the crush washers of the banjo fitting is what seals it. at least on the fuel rail end, not sure about the fuel pump end you gotta see if the threads are tapered or straight.

The easiest way to remove the filter is to spray the fittings first and then position one wrench, believe its a 17 and then the other to the line, 14 mm.

Remember to push away from you and not pull, I'm sure some people have made that mistake.

If it leaks seal it with teflon tape but I have never had a fuel filter leak on me.
