Can TOO much oil in the engine cause v-tec not to work properly?

not that i've ever seen.

Not enough oil will cause vtec to not work.
A dirty vtec solenoid gasket will cause vtec not to work.
Crappy connections for the vtec wiring (like twisted together and electrical taped) will cause vtec not to work.
A bad VSS signal can cause vtec not to work.
A bad Engine Coolant Temperature signal can cause vtec not to work.
The list goes on.

Well my cousin just bought a 98 ITR in mint condition...only 55k on the motor...bone stock!

everything was working fine...v-tec ripped...now (only weeks after he bought it) the v-tec still engages however it is much quiter and you dont feel as much of a pull...and we cant figure out why...

if the oil u use is too thick it can have this same affect. vtec runs off oil pressure so if u switch from a 5w-30 to say a 5w-50 then this could be the problem. do an oil change and use some nice 5w30 synthetic oil... castrol, mobil1, amzoil (the best of the 3 IMO) etc....

he just changed his oil...he used motul synthetic 5w 40 i believe

i like over fillin oil VTEC just burns it anyways... well i dont over fill but if im goin to be high revvin im goin to make sure its topped up cuz it doesnt take much to burn a liter with VTEC

my b16 burns almost nothing... thats with a shaved head tuned ecu and ****....

I have a question, I have a stock 92 civic with the 1.5L... and she burns 0 oil :) but I noticed that one of the mechanics that I go to for oil changes fills it up more than full... like there is min and max on the dipstick, he puts it to maybe 1.5 times the full amount....

Is this bad for the engine in any way?

^ dont worry about it too much you would notice if it was too fulL! ie blowin it out the exhaust!

Why would a VTEC burn oil, is that just the nature of the engines, or is that because the VTEC is engaged by oil pressure. I have a 96 civic SI with the D16Y8 engine which I recently bought, and it does use oil, I'm still trying to figure out how much it varies alot from tank to tank of fuel.

its not suppose to burn oil, it only burns oil if they're are worn parts.

thye don't burn oil, but the oil can be evapourated

I was told by Honda mech. the other day the reason why lots of B series engine burns oil is because of high rev and the heat it produces, then of cuz worn parts will cause burn oil also...correct if im wrong.
