theres nothing in the tip that can make sound........... its just a peice of metal thats been shaped

if anything it will just make an annoying rattle

if your on a tite budget get an axleback exhaust........... or even better a catback if you can afford it

no sound will come from a tip, its only for looks. If you want sound you have to get at least a universal muffler and put it on, or poke some holes in ur exhaust, or you c ould always get an intake if you wanted some sound

I guess then a "cone" does nothing?

That's why you cup your mouth when you yell. It helps the sound get louder and travel farther. Physics.

If the tip gets wider at the end, it does the same thing. It will amplify the sound that is already there.

If your muffler sounds "tinny" it will be a bit louder, but it will still sound "tinny"

If the muffler already has a nice low tone to it, it will get a bit louder as well, but with the same low tone.

That is why a speaker is in the shape of a cone.....it helps direct the sound wave foward.

The muffler tip does the same thing.......collects and directs the sound.

when you cup your mouth doesn't it just direct the sound.... i dont think it actually amplifies the sound... but instead of the sound going in 360° it just goes in the direction your facing... but you still have the same level of sound its just concentrated in front of you

PULOVR... you are correct, exept, a mufflers sound depends on the the chamber designs and how much it is packed, and how much the actual exit size of the muffler is (hence a silencer, is just creating a smaller exit)...If you strap a tip onto an OEM muffler I guarentee it will not alter the exhaust note in anyway, since the actual exit of the muffler stays the same size, all a tip does is adds a chrome look, and makes your tail pipe look as if its bigger...I had a tip on my civic for 2 years before i got a full aftermarket muffler, it did absolutly nothing, because the OEM muffler is practically making no sound in the first place, there is nothing to amplify...Thats the point of a muffler right?

it actually does raise a little....not just the normal tip though..
inside the tips there's hole....if u get those there'll be sound..
but it's not going to be loud at all....hardly noticable
