camshafts

hey just wondering if it would be worth putting a camshaft from a jdm 00 si into my y8. Are the lobes much different? ive already put a6 pistins in the block so the compression is already about 10.6:1. Ive heard that the vtec lobes are a bit more aggressive. any info or thoughts would be appreciated. thnx

I have a suggestion....I used the comp cam 59300 from ZEX, and the lobes are much different and it did make my car go so much faster.....I ran faster than a B16 ek civic.....

check out the zex cam...made by comp cam....big improvement

a big cam may require stiffer valve springs and new retainers though if its aggressive. i'd check with comp if ya go with route. was just reading info on the comp cams at d-series.org last night. seems many are using it to make 130-140whp with bolt ons (I/E/H)

the camshaft u speak of is prolly that from the d15b which in fact more aggressive it's made that way to compensate for the slightly smaller displacement so when put in a 1.6l it makes a lil more power than your cam will, if you're going to go through the trouble of changing your camshaft though get an aftermarket one there's many out there and they'll say whether or not u need different valve springs.
