camber kits

aiight, let's hear who has what, who likes which one, what are your experiences? state your type (ball joint, anchor bolt, or control arm), state the manufacturer, state the range of adjustment, and your experience with losing the setting/squeaks, hitting the frame, etc.

I think I need new upper control arms thanks to a bad batch of them on the 2000 SiRs, so I figure I'm gonna do a camber kit for the hell of it. For the rear, I'm gonna do the SRR camber and toe control, just for the hard bling. The front is what I'm confused about. So speak on it! What do you have? Any auto-xers, do you know what the top guys run at the track?

I'd suggest something where the ball joint is moveable ... thats why if it goes you replace the ball joint not the whole upper control arm.

skunk2 makes this type of camber plate.

most guys in HADA use them...

nuff said.

for the rears just use washers if your removing camber....

for the fronts a skunk 2 upper control arm and the ball joints are replaceable....

skunk2 has been causing squeaking and rubbing on the inside of the strut tower where the a-arm mounts. in extreme drops, the arm hits the frame. also, there are many ppl who lose their settings cuz the lock nuts can't grip the powdercoating on them. I know they are popular, but... ppl have complaints about them. I'm not real low, so maybe I won't run into these problems, but under extreme conditions... who knows... bottom line is I don't want even the remotest possibility of my camber kit mashing my frame.

For the back, it's about the bling. No washers

Is the camber kit the replacement of OEM forks?

no, sorry.

upper control arms.

you know there IS a company that makes aftermaket forks, but they are drop forks. suspension techniques makes them, their Civic was lowered 5 inches on 18 inch rims back in 1999 or thereabouts. it was the first Civic on 18s that I know of. it was a white 1996 sedan.

Running these... http://www.spcperformance.com/PerfPa...67320_360.html

Work fine and are easy to access and adjust for diy alignments. No interference, no squeaking, no lost settings, and i've put them through hell. Once the ball joint goes however, you'll have to buy another one. I wouldn't bother with camber kits on a street car if it's not running crazy numbers, but it's your money. I adjust toe at home and call it a day.

Btw, the SRR camber arms are very nice pieces, and make adjusting a breeze. I haven't had a problem with those either.

the urethane ES bushings i put in the upper control arm really picked up the slack and camber is nowhere near as bad as before...

my cheap method was gonna be just cutting the upper control arms and weld them back together with like 4mm spacing in the middle or something... its cheap yes but if you get the measurements right that's $200+ you just saved to spend on cheap street hookers

Maybe not completley related to this but I have a question.
Where can I educate myself on suspension components including camber kits and so on...any write ups, procedures, pdf. etc?
I am planning on lowering my car so I wanna do my homewrok.
