You will hear a ringing sound indicating an incoming call.

on a single cam vtec you can't really hear/feel it kick in, but you can tell when its not working.

on a dual over head cam vtec you can hear/feel it kick in like a ****.

Ok, Im serious, how do i know its working?

I think it does, becasue after 4500 rpm it feels alot more powerful, but im not sure, becasue the higher the rpm is, the faster im going anyways.

Does it really make a different sound?

Im a noob, just bought the car a week ago and got it on the road legally yesterday.

It will make a different sound like they said. Not as significant in an Single cam like yours, but more predominant in a Dual cam engine like in an SIR.

if you want to get a better sound, try upgrading to the 5.8ghz i think your 2.4 is lacking. thats probably why you're not feeling it or hearing it.

even a SOHC vtec is noticable when its in the higher lift... you can't really 'feel' the punch on a smaller motor, but you can definately hear the tone of the revs change.

Its different for a DOHC motor, as you will likely feel the kick around the time it engages. On my D15B, i think its engaged by 5500rpm... i assume the D16 vtec motors are the same. I had the non-vtec D15B7 before this motor, and its very noticable difference on the highway, as the car pulls hard to redline.
