CAI vs K&N filter

Hey guys just wanted to get some feedback on this issue since I'm pretty much clueless on this stuff. How noticeable a difference in throttle response, etc would you notice between using a CAI vs a K&N Performance Panel Filter for a car that is pretty much stock, except for an exhaust.

thx

not much of a difference I'd recommend a CAI with a K and N air filter.

no real noticable difference given the 1.5L engine... it's a small motor man... there is very little improvement to be found.... just ask some guys who have a couple of grand in bolt-ons for their 1.5 liters

thanks for the info guys, guess I'll just save my pennies for something else and stick with the K&N filter.

save your pretty pennies and invest in some tubing to make sort of a air dam to direct cold air to your stock air box

good DIY mod

A friend of mine who owns a Tercel made himself a shortram intake with a K&N intake out of fibreglass.. He took bottles and wrapped this fibreglass string stuff all around it.. he covered it with a resin stuff and cooked it a little.. Its very cool coz he can make all sorts of shapes and bends in it. He then covered it with a metallic tin tape to give it a chromeish look and give it some strength. It was pretty cool and sounds very nice.

but .. with lots of shapes and bends it would not offer a performance gain....

unless you want sound and some looks under the hood, just stick with a OEM replacement k&n filter...

oem replacement filter. its quiet and the difference in power gains over the cone filter will be insignificant.
