CAI sound

hih ppL!!
What kind of a noise would a CAI make?? (like low growl or something???) Is it noticable from the outside of the car?

Sometimes I see car passing by that have a quiet, but noticable growl to it but they don't have upgraded exhaust, is it because of CAI??

If I install a CAI, would it take away my low end power?? Thanks!

it'll help low end torque ... the power feels like it kicks in earlier

Thanks Gatherer!!!

personally, I don't like my CAI. That's just ME.

the sound is a little different and much more quiet than a short ram intake.

the sound you probably hear is a short intake, it's usually more pronounced in terms of sound and tone.

when i had my old intake it was actually louder then my exhust... which is decently loud itself.... but that noise is only at full throtle or close to it

red90dx 27-Aug-2003 03:37 AM

I could hear a suction sound at idle

imported_echien 27-Aug-2003 06:33 AM

Low growl at wide open throttle, short ram slightly louder at low revs and wide open throttle.

CAI still good, esp at wide open throttle and VTEC:thumbup:

when I turn off the engine I get a huush sound from it.

people at the gas station stare:thumbup:

^^^ i have to agree with Roy on this one...I found that I lost bottem end, and gaind midrange to top end, mostly excelerateing onto the highway...but I have a short ram so maybe its different than a tru CAI... Its mostly noisy during high suction..ie Low throttle then WOT...my intake whistles gind of like a bov at 3,000rpm...K&N Typhoon...

With a short air intake K&N or whatever filter you use will give you a second of hesitation off the line compared to stock.

I have seen tis on many of my friends cars and on my old acura, if you have enough done to the car you wil really not notice the difference but just intake on a stock car you will see it almost pause for a second till the engine starts going.

But it will make a difference on the highway once you get going.

h_accordexr 28-Aug-2003 11:22 AM

the thing thats cool about hondas they got long timing shaft thats why it makes that loud sound unlike other rides like neon or something ooo lets not forget the VW VR6 sound i love it.

it all depends on the car and the intake manifold
