CAI on automatic?

I want to pick one of those group buy AEM CAI's, but I notice that AEM only makes cold air for manual transmission (for 7th gen at least). Does anyone know why? Is it because it won't fit in an automatic? If this is the case, any suggestions on how I can modify it to fit, or would I just be better off getting short ram?

Um, thats because back in 93, the cold airs fit both auto and manual, but aem has specified for 01-04 the cold air ones they make are only for MT.

7th gen engines are too crowded

yup on the 7th gen the cai won't fit on an auto because the tranny is in the way, but on aem's site it has been dyno proven that the overall power results were better from a short ram and a cai.

If you want a CAI for a 7thgencivic get the Ingen it is the only CAI for an auto that I know of. However, the difference on our cars (7thgen) between Short Ram and CAI isn't that great though. I have the Injen Short Ram it added noise but not that much hp you should expect the same from the CAI. Go for the K&N KIPK II if your going to get a a Short Ram intake at least it has a decent heat shield.
