cable tranny swap in hydro tranny setup?
 
so i got a hydro YS1 tranny in my EG6 w B18A... the tranny 3rd gear synchro is fully shot, and i'm trying to find a new tranny... but everyone just has the cable one... so i figure for the future too, just put the cable one in... but is it possible? and does anyone know what i need to modify?

oh man, whatever you do DO NOT buy the avid racing conversion kit.
What a nightmare that was. There were no instructions, it didn't tell us that we needed to buy other mounts (GSR timing belt side mount and del sol rear bracket). The "shims" that the kit came with were nothing more than crappy old washers. And the best part of it all was that we had to still modify that tranny top mount b/c it was off by over an inch.
So we had to customize the $400 (plus the other mounts we had to buy) conversion kit.
Avids tech support is almost non-existant and i'm fairly confident they've never even tried to use their own kit, b/c if they did, they would have realized that they needed to mod their tranny mount to make the kit even work.
Not to mention how crappy the actual kit was. The way it worked was that it still used the slave cylinder to actuate the release arm, it just used some crap ass mounting bracket (which moved everytime you pressed the clutch pedal) to mount the slave cylinder to, so that it was aiming upwards (like how the cable tranny's release arm is up and down, instead of like how the hydro setup goes left and right). I'm fairly confident it was disengaging the clutch properly, b/c the pedal feel was absolutely disgusting, the minute you let the clutch pedal up it started engaging the clutch, like literally not even half an inch from the floor. So that leads me to beleive the slave cylinder wasn't pushing the release arm up far enough to fully disengage the clutch.
Anyways, long story short.....DO NOT use the avid racing hydro to cable conversion kit.

LOL Mattds, well i guess i'd just have to look harder for a hydro tranny... but what car would that come in though? i heard integras come with cable? but... b18 is an integra motor?

you can use ANY 94-01 (LS, RS, GS, GSR, ITR) integra tranny.....or a 99-00 SIR tranny....or a 94-97 del sol VTEC (b16) tranny.
Basically any b-series hydro tranny you want.
The 90-93 integras came with a cable tranny, which you can't use in your car.
