Which A/C bracket on B16A2?
Today, I realized my Saden compressor doesn't fit the bracket that is currently on my usdam B16a2. What is the bracket I need?
Is it the 96-97 Del Sol VTEC bracket? Is there any other bracket I can use? cuz, the bolts really don't line up with the bracket I got. the car is a 97 ek coupe, by the way. I believe the ac system should be from the same model year. The compressor has S90F stamped on it and the Honda part no. for it is: 38800-P2F-***... The numbers after P2F can't be read. thanks in advance guys. |
nobody knows?

your best bet is to find the compressor made for your engine, does your sedan have a b or d series engine because the ac is not interchangeable between the two series.

I am pretty sure the 96-97 DOHC bracket from a del sol will work. Actually right now my AC Condensor is only on with one bolt and its been fine for a year now. I have the same setup as you basically. I was thinking of just getting a new compressor one that already fits the existing bracket but I am not sure if it will work. I've asked people if the AC bracket from a 99-00 SIR would work but whenever I check online no one ever mentions that bracket even though you'd think it would work. SO your stuck for sure with either a 96-97 DEL SOL vtec or a CRV b20 bracket

The car was actually a 97 Civic HX coupe from states. I read somewhere when swapping to a B series, u need a certain AC bracket in order to keep AC.
Hey, Moe! i was using one bolt as well. Which out of the four holes are u using?? passenger side bottom? |
use the b16a2 compressor and the bracket from the same car

If you want the D series compressor to work so you dont have to cut and reweld lines then get the Del Sol 96-97 DOHC VTEC P54 bracket. Since you have a b16a2 you cannot use the CRV (cheaper bracket) if you have Power steering.
Honda Part Number 38930-P54-000 (not cheap from Honda about $150+ does not include idle pulley) |
I cannot use CRV bracket? I read on Honda-Tech that I could and I almost bought one today. Yeah, and I do have PS.
If I choose to use P54, can I use the idle pulley that's on the B16A2? |
Can i use the idle pulley on B16A2 on Del Sol VTEC's AC bracket? I think it's a yes. But just making sure.
|
Falcon is right you can't use the CRV bracket if you have power steering.

does anyone know if P13 will work for my application?
this guy tells me it would, he's got a P13 bracket that i can buy off of. |
Prelude bracket? I have never heard of that one working from what I have read. If you have success let us know. Anyone have the answer to using a idle pulley from another bracket on the P54 etc?

Ok I comfirmed that you can use the Pulley and pulley bracket from the other setups. I have this working in my car now. I grabbed the CRV mount and used my D-series AC compressor with the Del Sol (SI) pulley and pulley bracket. Works perfect. Again please note the CRV mount will not work with a B16A2 with Power Steering. I have a GSR motor with Power Steering and it fits 100%.
