buying a used supercharger???
 

Is this recommended? I know a guy selling a Jackson Racing one relatively cheap but it 's a few years old. Maybe got 100k km's on it. Do these things wear out? Anyone on here with experience?

I'd rather not blow up my motor but it wouldn't be catastrophical, D15's (and D16's) are plentiful around here.

I think it would be a good autocross mod and would make good use of the LSD tranny I just got.

Plus any motor swap will change the class I'm in and the JRSC wouldn't.

id go to clubsi and read up in the ON BOOST forum
i posted this too b/c i was very interested in adding a blower... preferably the JRSC.

actually i was just reading that thread, they don't have much good to say about it don't they?!? Hard to say though they seem pretty power hungry there. I'm looking for linear power delivery for autocrossing.

how about a gude "bullfrog" block or head to boost its all motor potential?

Blowers do wear out and need rebuilding - check out Jackson Racing's site - they tell you the life expectancy of their blowers... I forget that time so would rather not post bad info...but it is there.

yeah, they do wear out, the seals on the roots type blowers like the JRSC can fail. Also, the oil seals could fail as well. Anything that moves also wears out.

I couldn't tell you quickly they wear out or what the life expectancy is, but I considered a JR blower too and those who own it are pretty happy with it. Easy install and with 8psi max, it doesn't endanger your motor as much. Plus it's very consistent.

jrsc dosen't get rave reveiws on clubsi cause they are power hungrey if it dosent' make 300 whp it isnt' good....basically it doesnt' have asmuch potential for huge hp as other options and pumps alot of hot det prone air into yoru motor...if your not looking for much power then it is good but for the price it isnt' worth it....if you do get it then get a afc and btm and 310 cc injectors to tune it so you don't detonate on those spindley rods and cast pistons. would be good for autocross, but I woldnt' want to buy a blower with 100 000 km's on it really....you could get it checked and everything...or jsut peice together a turbo kit....

I'd go with Jay on this one. Gude head, cam and ECU. Good for 50-55 hp. Plus you don't lose on the reliability aspect.
