Is buying USED shocks a good idea?

Hi.

I wanted to buy some USED shocks, since they seem to go for a relatively cheaper price.

Now, is this a good idea? Say they were Performance Gas shocks AND, they came with warrenty papers (no reciepte though...).

I don't know how long they were use for, but hopefuly will find out soon.

How would I be able to test the shocks to see if they are in good working condition?

And, how would I be able to use the warrenty in case they blew?

Thanks.

generally not a good idea unless you know who you're buying them off of

Yeah I saw that post in classifieds...

I'm just not sure if its a good idea or not.... Tony says depends...

How about this warrenty thing? Does that help at all? Does it need the purchase reciepte to go with it?

can't really tell how much they have been used only if they are popped or not...push tehm down my hand adn if they stay compressed = toast
if they pop up then they aren't popped...that's about it...you could look at the shock body for wear...I'd day sure but proceed with caution...a koni yellow is a high end shock so if has better durability

buying used shocks is a bad Idea esspecially if you don't know the drop they were on with or the abuse they've taken ... I could drive a car down some nasty roads every day that would surely shorten the life of shocks...

used springs are ok ... but check for condition.... although they might sag a bit due to wear and tear ... in the end I always recommend new parts

Yeah.. I guess I just save up for a set of NEW Koni reds...

The ones I was looking at were Koni Yellows, 2 years old and with surface rust from WINTER !!

They do have life time warrenty though....

Hey I'm confused with this warrenty thing... Would I be able to have them replaced at any point, with the warreny papers and no reciepte?
