Question Buying second hand Computer

Hi all,

I am planning to buy a 2nd hand Spoon / Mugen Computer...

But i'm thinking how can i find out it is really a Spoon or Mugen computer as it is?

People might only change the chips inside or the chips has been reset so the vtec clicks in and fuel cutoff at other pt??

Many Thanks!!!

authentic spoon computer has spoon tape wrapped around the ecu and has a unique serial number on the top and on the side of the ecu.
when you open it up there is an actual chip with spoon written on it.

as for mugen i am not to sure as i never seen one but i dont see why it wouldnt be the same.

Thanks.

So the one i saw, the cover has been open. (Spoon tape on one side only) I haven't check on the serial number and haven't open the cover... May be i should call him out and check again.

Besides, Spoon / Mugen, which one is better (faster)? Is there other brand can introduce to me?

real spoon ecu

real mugen ecu

just to give you an idea of how it would look like. over the years they changed their design etc to upgrade from it being counterfeited

personally i would say between the two ecu's it doesnt necessarily have to do with which is better but what you have to make the engine perform better. meaning obviously if you have spoon internals or mugen internals the programming would work better then compared to a stock motor with one of the programming.

Thanks so much~

Right now, my engine is using EK9 cam... and head has been polished. (thats all)

I heard Mugen ecu is stronger, and the Spoon one didn't do much differences.. As spoon said it is a Sports computer only, but the Mugen one is stated Racing~

Anyhow, i think i will stick with Spoon.

Really appreciate for the pictures!
