Burning Oil Question- Civic SI 1993 HELP!

I currently have a 1993 Civic si Coupe with 395,000 KMS on it....(ya, ya, I know the kms are quite high...)

My problem is that I'm feeding my car 6 to 8 liters of oil between each oil change(every 3500 kms)...I have no leak (and no blue smoke), but just get the smell of burnt oil every 800 to 1000 kms. At that time, I'll notice that the dip stick is dry and have to add another 2 liters. Is the oil that I'm placing in (conventional 10w30) not good for an engine with so many kms?

Should I use synthetic?

Is there a liquid solution that I can place in the engine to fix the problem?

Need your help....thanks!

Also.... As a side note....I'm currently looking for Half Red, Half Clear Tail Lights.....if you have them and yer sellin' , let me know...

i would think there is no need for an oil change if your placing 6-8L in it in 3500km, just change the filter every 5000km.

sounds like piston rings, but not sure why no smoke or anything, but that would account for the burnt oil smell. if the piston rings are gone...its time for another engine or live with it until the car packs it in.

If it's simply burning the oil, it either gotta be the rings or the valve seals.

6-8L of oil is insane amount to be going through. You problem should be pretty obvious!

Is there any kind of solution (like Prolong, or super lubricant) that can be used to remedy this problem?

Or should I just run the engine to the ground till it needs replacing...

just run it till it dies, if its burning 6-8L then those seals must be long, long gone and no amount of prolong is gonna help it.

compression test is a good idea, but i think you already know what the answer will be.

or if the bodies good, grab another engine and do another 400,000

Ya...I think that's what I'll do...Once it dies, I'll just pop in another engine...Body and interior is in excellent shape.....

best bet is to go to a local truck shoip that services CAT engines.. get some CAT oil stabilizer and use 1 liter of that and the rest oil.. that **** is way better than Lucas..

I say you swap now, considering your burning so much oil, it can't be cheap keeping that thing alive..

I'll try the Lucas for now and see how that works....I'm not into spending 700+ to buy an engine and install it....Nor do I wanna risk the engine with CAT juice....

Funds are tight and rather duke it out till it dies....

As I always say..."Don't replace it, till it's dust"

lol.. its not a risk... i was a truck and coach technician for a while.. a guy at werk had a ****ed lifter in his 4.0 Jeep.. it was making noise like crazy.. it also consumed a few litres of oil a month.. he ran 2 litres of Cat goop (its almost like a solid until u heat it up lol) and the rest oil and it was soo quiet and much better on oil.. he then sold the truck and didnt tell the buyer about the problems lol
