Broken Front Mount

would a fuxored front engine mount totally bugger up shifting under load?

the front mount on my b17 integra is completely seperated from the metal and downshifting and upshifting under load hsa been like crap...I'm pretty sure this is the problem since I can see where the 2 side mounts have been hitting their cradles under loads and the tranny changes gears smooth otherwise

just lookin for some feedback cuz I'm pretty darn sure this is the problem

imported_SMGFANDOTCOM 20-May-2007 02:32 PM

If it's rocking that bad your back mount must be pretty bad.

imported_chris_v2 20-May-2007 02:48 PM

yes it can highly affect it.

Cynikal.Mindset 20-May-2007 02:59 PM

its prolly the worst I've experienced in any of my cars...it makes driving a PITA!

imported_braunzcrx 20-May-2007 03:21 PM

those angles are transferred thru your driveshafts to get power to the wheels hopfully those cv's are holdin up ok for ya

LEITNER 20-May-2007 07:17 PM

no i dont think it matters unless your other mounts are pooched..all ef b swaps use only 3 mounts and the front one is not used. never seen any excessive engine rock except when the eurathane bushings are worn out.

Cynikal.Mindset 20-May-2007 07:49 PM

well then I guess all are worn out...cuz rock is pretty excessive...like I said, u can see on the side mount cradles wear marks from where the mounts hit on them when the motor torques

imported_chris_v2 20-May-2007 10:40 PM

damn...

if its that excessive, that is def. your problem Matt.

Cynikal.Mindset 21-May-2007 12:38 PM

and upon further looking into it...I put the car in 1st and had it off and pushed the car back and forth and that front one is completely not doing a thing and the rear one looks pretty weaksauce aswell...I think I'm gonna upgrade all of them cuz its pretty silly...and I dont think my sloppy shifter bushings paired up with busted ass mounts is helping matters at all

zeeman 21-May-2007 01:39 PM

i've never used the front mount when doing b-series EF swaps, the aftermarket mounts are strong enough to handle the lack of the front mount.
It just sucks that you'll have to pull the engine out to change your mounts. I'd be tempted to just try changing the timing belt side and top tranny mount out for the aftermarket set to see if it helps, if not, pull the engine and change the rear mount too.

imported_chris_v2 21-May-2007 02:02 PM

you gotta pull the engine to change the rear tranny mount?

i'm sure theres a way around it.....

Cynikal.Mindset 21-May-2007 10:16 PM

there has to be a way to change that rear mount with the engine in...I bloody well hope so...or like u said I'll be puttin urathane ones in the front and and both sides if thats the case

zeeman 21-May-2007 10:37 PM

man, its a pain enough getting to those bolts that hold the rear tranny mount on with the engine out.
But i'm sure if you were stubborn enough and/or had the right amount of wobble extentions and a good impact gun/steady hand you might be able to get to those 3 bolts...but have fun with that shiat.

Cynikal.Mindset 21-May-2007 10:44 PM

haha...on g2ic forums they say all u need is a shyte load of extensions and a woble adapter and you're good to go...but I'm lazy so I'm gonna get a shop to do this stuff...not to mention I dont have a driveway to do this kinda crap anymore...BOOOOOO!!!!!!!!
