im not quite sure about the brembos but the baers im thinkin of have 3 year warrenty against cracking etc, expensive but i dunno, i was gonna just go with brembo blanks but ehh, i also dont want them rusting...still havent figured 100% what im doing t.t

i heard any drilled rotors have a tendency of gettin warped and also from personal experience but maybe brembos arent like that

i can get powerslot/baer/brembo for all the same price so it comes down to preference and wats better

brembo, i like those better. i bought them last year but havent installed them yet.

the baer's have 3 year warranty against warping and cracking, that's the only reason I bought them plus the non wearing surfaces don't rust and they do look decent, as far as a difference in performance I don't notice any. If you choose them choose em make it for one of those reasons, if you want to actually increase stopping power u have to go a 2 piston caliper setup with larger rotors.

do u actually expect a significant change in your braking system because of different brake rotors? what a waste of money. if you want better stopping power you gotta change diameter of the rotor, size of piston, rotor and brakes and lines. |
On my own 1990 4 door I run Baer slotted and cross drilled rotors as well as EBC green stuff pads and the difference is braking is like night and day. What people need to understand about civics, especially the older ones is that the factory brakes or quite small, sure they are large enough to stop the car in a resonable amount of distance but they arent meant to take the kind of abuse we put on them. Therefore its quite easy, especially on ef's, to warp high oem rotors or even high quality after market rotors such as brembo blanks. I originally went through 3 sets of warped rotors and 3 sets of glazed pads on my ef hatch before upgrading to powere slot rotors and ebc pads and as soon as I did the problem with rotors warping and pads glazing went away. I also noticed about 90% percent less brake fade even from very high speeds. What I came to realize was that even with tiny factory rotors you could still get the car to stop extemely well as long as you could find a way to deal with the massive amount of heat build up, and the only way to do that is with some sort of vented rotor along with a quality aftermarket high performance streetable brake pad. Now fast forward to today I now have an EF sedan that I have just completely overhauled the braking system on with new shoes, drums, wheel cylinders, calipers, Baer slotted and drilled rotors and EBC green pads. The difference even from switching to a slotted rotor to a good quality slotted and drilled rotor was instantly noticeable for me even in a slightly heavier car the brake fade was still reduced to a point thats its hardly even present anymore. I often hear people talk about how vented rotors chew the hell out of brake pads and drastically reduce there lifespan, well this is only partly true. The thing is slotted rotors are great on pads because they are constantly cleaning the pad so you never have never half to deal with glazing and such again. Another nice thing is if you car has been sitting for awhile and there is some surfast rust on the rotor the pad will first clean the rotor surface and then the rotor will clean the pads surface. Now im not going to lie the pads life is reduced quite a bit by the vented rotors, with my hatch the pads only lasted me exactly 1 year, but that was with me beating the hell out of the car on a constant basis. And the other things was the pads retained there stopping ability all the way down to basically nothing. I really wish people would stopping posting opinnions as their own based on what they have read or heard from their friends or read in magazines and starting basing them on their own personal experience with the products.

Oh and one more quick note, when it comes to paying higher prices for premium parts that are key safey items such as suspensions, tires, brakes etc I say can you really put a price on you, you family, your friends, or someone elses life? Think about it.

see, I had a set of brembo cross drilled rotors, and they warped in less than 6 months. we put powerslot rotors and EBC green stuff pads on my buddy's Dakota RT, and they warped in less than 6 months. then I went to 00 SiR OEM brakes front and back on my car, and I had NO problems at all. just to step it up another notch, I upgraded further, not because of any problems though. So you see, I had negative experiences with both brembo cross drilled and powerslot slotted rotors. for the record I still run a smooth rotor now (not cross drilled or slotted).

I dont know what the hell you guys are doing to be warping high quality slotted rotors such as brembo because I have never been able to warp any of the 3 sets of vented rotors I have used and really punish my brakes to. Oh and btw EBC greens should not be used to heavier vehicles such as the Dakota IMO.

I was in a rsx where the rotors actually turned red.
neways, i went to a shop and found out speedtech installed them backwards. I got them put on properly and machined today. |
