brakes and mad vibrations
 

I got baer cross drilled /slotted rotors and ebc green stuff pads and they been on the car for less than a year. Now when I brake i got alot of vibrations....first thought is that they're warps but even tho cross drilled r notorious for warping in less than one year?? so Im wondering if it can be anything else.

maybe outer tie rods..

i have the same symptom, and maybe the same issue, with my cross drilled KVR rotors. I'm gonna have it checked before the end of april, but i'm sure its warped. mine were installed in august 06.

I'm not sure i did the 'break-on' properly, and i've also abused them in autox.

Did you do the break-in ?

OMG you had them for a year of probobly beating the crap outta them....= they are warped I mean how long to you expect brakes to last when you drive them harder than the average grand mother :rolleyes: 1 year seems about right if not pretty good not to mention more agressive pad = way more heat which = warp

Check all balljoints for play as well.

They are warped. I just had the same problem until i changed them last month and problem went away so yeah change your rotors and pads.

ball joints are brand new. Im better off to get them checked

wat the fuk makes u think I beat the crap outta them CUZ I DONT. don't jump to conclusions...... If i didnt say i was an agressive driver dont make assumptions.

neways the rotors and pads r under warranty, not sure if they'll replace it but i gotta find out

i think dingus was more talking to nrg3k.....he mentioned they were abused during auto-x.

exactly - i know why mine are warped ;)

my question was more about the break-in. i'm sure if they are under warrenty, they will be replaced. but don't be surprised if the store you got them from asks about the break-in. they might give you a hard time if you don't sound certain it was done correctly.

ebc pads are notorious for warping rotors, I've said it a million times.

remove the wheel, attach a dial gauge indicator and check the runout.

thanks, and sorry abt goin off... i thought he was talking to me. they were 'braked in' properly', I had a shop do the install and after he installed it he did a brake in and once I was driving it I went easy on it knowing they were new.

does the car sit in the winter? cuz if it does than they can warp from that as well.

Break in for the rotors is critical from what i've heard. Evertime i get new rotors I always drive easy for the first 2 days, no hard braking, no riding the brakes (going down hill ) this is just to prevent excessive heat build up when breaking them in. Bring your car over 1sykcoupe we'll have a look at it and see what it is. Send an email to the manufacturer to see what they will do as far as warrenty is concerned.

how do i know if my tie rod ends r toast?

grab the tires at the three and nine oclock positions, then wiggle it while watching the steering wheel... the steering wheel should respond to the slightest of inputs. or have a buddy hold the steering wheel tight while you wiggle the tires and watch for play.

some people like to lock the steering wheel by using the ignition interlock, but since there is some play in the interlock I find some n00bs confuse normal lock play with a tie rod problem.
