Brake Setup

I have a turbo civic...but I like the stock look and was thinking of getting sir Rims. I believe they're 15 inch. What would be the best brake setup to fit my 98 civic si with 15 inch sir rims? Is it even worth it?

Should I get a big brake kit and crappy 17's instead?

Did a dangerous rip the other day....need some resistance...

TIA

I actually came here looking for an answer to the same thing, I'm going turbo very soon, and I have 4 wheel disc abs right now, the stock setup, for the 6th gen. Coupe SiR... I also do NOT want 17", yuck... I bought the 16" 5Zigen FN01-RCs and im very happy. Are the breaks I have now good enough, or can you guys reccomend something for my 16" setup?

you could try other brand name big brake kits...such as AEM/Brembo/Wilwood/Endless/Spoon

ITR 5-bolt conversion is expensive...is it necessary? What size rotor will fit with what kinda of caliper under a Sir 15's?

If you check Fastbrakes.com...they say they have good kits to fit 16 inch rims....
Check the rotor size and combos they have there and piece it together.

hope that helps...

there are big brake kits that will fit under aftermarket 15' rims. even gsrs with some nice pads will be enough braking power. or you can get custom 11' type r discs that are 4x100 drilled so you can dont have to buy new rims and get some type r calipers.

I thought 98 civic si has 10.3 inch rotors...same size as integra no?

I read about this...
prelude rotors, 2 piston legen caliper, nsx pads, integra 1"master cylinder.

would that fit an SIR 15" rim?

i am using prelude 11.1" rotors redrilled and accord wagon calipers lightly modified on my crx with hawk hp brake pads. they work great. i can't get anything smaller than a 15" rim over them and even then, they can't be weighted on the inside for balancing.

bbarbulo...

would you suggest that setup to me?

Isn't that the same as getting 11 inch brembo blanks and hawk HP pads on my stock setup?

Maybe just getting 1 inch master cylinder with it?

Wouldn't that be similar and also fit under a 15 inch sir rim?

your stock setup is 10.2 inch, I dunno where you plan to get 11 inch rotors and caliper relocation brackets to clear 11 inch rotors. I would recommend the poor man's type R (prelude rotors and accord wagon calipers). but for the money you'll spend sourcing those parts, you might as well look at the options you have on fastbrakes.com and get some 4 piston calipers (not necessary but def nice). my buddy just did 4 piston wilwoods under 15 inch rims and it's pretty sick.
