Question Brake Rotor ?'s

My '88 hatch is in need of a front brake job and I was wondering what brand of rotors is recommended? What can I expect to pay and from where I can get them? I am going to go with Honda pads and am debating on whether or not I should go with Honda rotors as well or "upgrade" to a performance rotor? The car is a daily driver in the downtown area and reliability is a must. Thanks for the help

Depends on what your going to do with the car.. I bought 4 rotors and pads all the way around for only 150 bucks taxes in. They are just generic rotors, and premium carbon mataic pads, they wear nice. I was going to get after market rotors but i figured for the price i can get 3 sets of generic rotors so why bother..

Its all up to you.. take a look around in here, i think there are many other threads about this..

Thanks

i'm running powerslot rotors with hawk hps pads and love it. i would recommend the powerslots and either hawk or ebc pads. i think they are a killer combo.

i've used the kvr rotors and kvr carbon pads and i found them to be the same as oem rotors and pads. the only issue i had with the kvr rotors was rusting. they are not zinc coated so the tend to rust when moisture gets to them. not a big deal, but i just thought it looked ***. but the whole kvr package was half the price of the powerslot rotors!

i picked up the kvr rotors and pads at performance improvements. i paid 150 for everything.

i picked up the powerslots and hawk pads for 400 (i think, since i picked up some other stuff at the tiem as well) at racing evolution.

EBC pads are notorious for warping rotors, I don't know why... maybe the material they are made of is a poor heat conductor

expensive and not worth it.... HP is a far better, race proven pad. Project mu makes nice race pads and even calipers; it's cool in Japan, but VERY expensive here.

Not a fan of your current setup Ryan? The Brembo Blanks and your whatever they were pads?

I had brembo blanks and EBC greenstuff pads. They had lots of bite but my rotors warped too lol. Im gonna try Hawk HPS next time around. Brembo blanks cost me like 70 a rotor, but I know they go as low as 50 a rotor for some hondas, Auto Stop can get him theyre close to Mavis and Dundas, heres the number 905-277-4828

Quite the contrary... I'm VERY pleased with my current setup. It's just that the dude said he could get OEM rotors for under $70, so why not buy them instead?

I highly recommend Brembo blanks or OEM rotors.

As for the pads, OEM Honda (made by Nissin) are still no. 1. My Performance Friction Carbon Metallic pads are stupendous, but for those that are just using their cars for daily driving I think the OEM pads are still best value for the money. Their composition is perfect for everyday use.

I switched my pads to EBC greens with stock rotors.....they warped in no time... Now iam looking for new rotors...prolly cross drilled.Any suggestions?? This would pair up with the EBC pads, or should i ditch the pads all together?
