Unhappy Brake Problem!

ok so my battery died on me, and i went and replaced it, while replacing it the battery tie down rod fell into the engine bay, it didnt fall under that car so i tried to put my car in nutral to move it back (there was no battery in the car) so when i dpressed the brake my car starts releasing air and the brake pedal goes all the way down.

so climbed on my engine and fished for the rod, i eventually found it and when everything was in nice an tight, i started up the car fine, but my brake pedal is still going all the way down and my car is still releasing air when i push the pedal down..meaning i cant drive cause i cant brake...any suggestions?

At this point it sounds like the problem is unrelated to your battery installation. Check the vacuum connection from the intake manifold to your brake booster.

On your car if its the OE D16Y7 engine it should be the large(1/2" OD) black rubber hose running from the back of the intake manifold to a white 90 degree fitting coming out of the vacuum brake booster. (the black round object that your master cylinder mounts to)
Hope this helps in some form.

i checked, theres no leakes, i'm low on breake fluid tho, and i think the air is coming from the brake booster, but the vaccume line seam to be on tight, could i have wrecked the breake boobter when i pushed the pedal down when there was no battery in the car?

It is impossible to wreck the brake booster with no battery, the are completely unrelated in that respect.

Are you sure the line is attached at both ends with no cracks or splits?
If your low on brake fluid, top it up and bleed all the brakes in this order: RR, LR, RF, LF. By having a low brake fluid level you might have introduced some air into the system.

The other possibility is that your brake booster has gone for a ****. Check all of your vacuum lines, top off the brake fluid and bleed the brakes, see where that gets you first.

there could be an internal leak in the brake booster....hopefully not b/c they're a biatch to change.
Top the fluid up and bleed the brakes like trackhack mentioned.

If the pedal is going all the way to the floor then you have a leak somewhere. Look for fluid on the ground and identify where it is leaking near. With no brake booster you would have a rock hard pedal, not a soft pedal to the floor. find the leak first then fix and bleed.
