Brake Problem

Brake Problem
Anyone of you experienced this. I was driving and going around 60, then I stepped on my break, it feels like I stepped in my gas pedal. So I stepped on it again then it stopped. So I was thinking it wasn't a major problem. So I didnt worry about it, I went by and drive toward my destination. I was running about 60 again and I step on my brakes to slow down a little bit *a STOP sign* then it happened to me again, I cant feel the brakes. thats where I noticed that I have to step on it then step on it again in order for me to brake.
A normal brake is like stepping and you'll feel a strong force after you step on it, but this time when you step on it, it feels light and you really have to push it in order to brake or release it and step on it again.
Anyone experienced this? what could be the problem? what can I do to fix this? and since Im in a budget right now, how much would it cost? know of a good place?

Most likely air in the system or no brake fluid. Your wheel cylinders could be ruptured or one of the brake lines ripped or some kind of leak somewhere. Do you hear any squeaking noise or anything like that? Slight chance you might need new brakes if that's the case.

Could be brake booster or the cylinder that's starting to go, because it seems like you need to pump the brakes more to build pressure.
Doubt it's air in the line, because air doesn't mysteriously appear.. If you had a rip in the line or a leak, under that kind of pressure, your brake pedal would have been down to the ground and completely dead very quickly.
Check your brake fluid reservoir, most of the fluid still there?
