Brake help
 

Today I was on my way to school and I was braking for a red light and my brake line broke or something cause I then tried to press them and i heard the brake fluid spray against the wheelwell. But what I dont get is if one line broke wouldnt the other 3 brakes still work? Its a 89 Civic with a 94 integra rear disc conversion.
I had to go back home using the e-brake. What do you think the problem is?

if you think your flex line ripped why dont you check it?

Your Brake system is sealed. If one hose is ripped, you lose pressure in the rest of it. Get it fixed ASAP. That's not safe. A mechanic would prob not charge more than $150 if that's the only busted thing.

if your master cylinder is working normaly, you have a dual system. 2 pistons, each going to 2 wheels. 1 front and 1 back wheel for each piston. so if you lost a brake line, you won't still have 3 brakes, but you should have 2.
but it is much harder to stop with half your brakes gone. so it sounds pretty likely that you burst a line. they aren't hard to change, but bleed them well if you do it yourself.

fred is correct, you should have the opposite front one still working, and the rear one on the same side as the line that burst should still work. the system is diagonal. that being said..... there is only ONE source of brake fluid, so with NO fluid, NOTHING will work.
