brake calaper overhall

hi this is kinda a 2 part question

i just installed DA TEG brakes on my ef but the calapers are all rusted and i duno if they work or not so i went 2 partsorce and they want 580$ for new ones all round

is there a way 2 just overhall the ones i allready have ??

new seals and **** like a kit i can buy

2nd question i have air ride on the car and be4 i installed the DA brakes there was clearance 4 the tire 2 go up under the artch now the tire sticks out further and hits the lip :( cant lower the car at all now

is this because a drum is thin and the rotor is thicker so it sticks out an extra 1/2 inch ??

u used the whole trailing arm all new energy bushings all round civc controll arms and that other little arm at the other end whatever thats called is civic

you can always trim that lip back. get a body shop to do it.

a friend of mine is tucking 19s on a cavalier...the lip had to be rolled completely....

i heard u can do that but u have 2 get the artches repainted i think

i was thinking why not cut them off compleatcly and weld the 2 together but it wont be as solid wil bend simply

i did it with a baseball bat and a jack on my ek

jack the car up put the bat in there let the ebrake off lower the jack and then turned the bat until it roled it under

it worked but cracked the paint like it would anyways

i just bought 1 brand new caliper front driver side, cost me 67 bucks, and they charge a additional 35 bucks for core charge, once you bring back your old ones you get your money back.

imported_doggy69247 27-Feb-2007 06:50 PM

yea the front ones are 67+ core the rear are 160 includeing the core its expensive

ok i dident even look at the front ones yet but i knoew the back ones were bad

after u take everything apart i had the calaper in my hand and u can ajust the width buy turning the plunger part so on 1 of them i took the plunger right off cleaned it all up sandblased it all and then put it all back together

the other rear 1 i was going to do the same but i took the plunger part out and there was a bunch of break fluid behind it and it all ran allover is that suposed 2 be there????

you should never change only one side of the caliper you will experience uneven braking.

You can buy rebuild kits from Acura dealerships. I don't know how much they are but I know that is an available option.
