Boring and sleeving?

Boring and sleeving?
OK i have a 88 crx and in it i have a 88 ZC. This engine runs pretty good considering i have nothing done to it. Now that i have most of my exterior and interior done to where I want it i have decided to build a ZC from bottom to top. I know your looking at this and going WTF or laughing but this is what i want to do for right now. Iam going to go with a turbo (i have a 14b right now) so teh big question is it better to bore your block or sleeve your block and also any input on my install will help me along.
Thanks Robbie

i don't know a whole lot about zc engines, but i'm thinking you won't need to sleeve or bore to make those kinds of numbers- someone please correct me if i'm wrong.
if you need any help with any fab work (charge piping, downpipe, turbo manifold...) let me know.

you should be fine without sleeving the block if you keep the boost under 10psi and have a good tuner tune it. the biggest reason the sleeves crack is detonation, if you have a good tune it wont detonate.

if u wanna run that kind of psi i would at least get forged internals, sleeving wouldn't be a bad idea, but its very pricey.
Just so you know, the only way you can really bore these engines (more than like .5mm over safely) is to sleeve it. I mean some people go .040" over (which is 1mm) but for boost that would be a bad idea IMO.
Like steve said...tuning is KEY!!!

12 and 20. sleeving is a must. i recommend GE. they wont overheat or sink but you will be sending it to california. but if you gonna use that much boost why use an old crapper ZC? your gonna spend alot of cash on an obsolete engine.

You should be okay with stock sleeves even at 20psi again "with a good tune". Take for example the d16 tuned by Jeff Evans used on Pinks. Here's a quote, "It took 30lbs of boost to make 460whp on a stock sleeved d-series. I guess the rumor that stock sleeved d-series blocks not being able to take high horsepower is false. " -- Evans Tuning.
The proof is in the puddin...

your engine can take around 220whp if tuned properly.
You can get some low compression pistons if you want to run 250whp. No sleeving is necessary. I know guys who run 300whp with stock sleeves daily
