boosting d-series
 

how much approx. would it cost to boost a d-series? havent had time to call any of the affiliates-just wondering if i can get some input on the ups and downs of it(from the ppl who have got it done)

i thought about it with my car it would approx be 1000 for the complete kit then finding someone to install it
might need some internals upgraded to get high psi

www.turbod16.com is a great site also. www.homemadeturbo.com has some cheap ghetto builds too but it works. just don't cheap out on the tune like use afc hack or w/e when you boost it. sohc motors internally are good to handle around 200whp but you'll have to change your injectors before you even reach that point.

ya a thousand dollar turbo setup.. that'll be a real good quality kit:thumbup:

Do your research.. and come back here with more specific questions. A turbo kit can cost anywhere from 500 to 5000$ it all depends what you want. There is no real answer for your question.

if you don't educate yourself first, then it is going to be extremely costly to have a shop educate you.

but big props to boosting d-series... the are pretty commendable builds when the are completed and you are putting out some serious numbers...

where was that site where the guy had stock d-series makingg like 320hp to the wheels? on honda-tech or some other site, apparently he is verywell known in the us and with good tuning the motor is running strong.

If you want to use mostly new parts, and want something quality, it will usually run you in the $2500-$3500 range.
I think boosting is a very good option to consider if you have a D, because for the amount of money spent you get very good results.
The downsides I guess might be buying high octane gas, but turbo isn't for you if you cant spend the extra 10 cents on gas.
The other downside of a turbo, is that you need to wait for it to spool up before you get power, but thats also not such a bad thing. You just need to adjust your driving. It also allow for traction on take off.

that motor is pushing 370whp now but that motor is running on magic juice or something. how does a stock z6 push that much power on stock internals? i don't know how that motor is holding together. the car is tunned by evans tuning and is a dd!
