Niiiice

good to see you making progress sal. But you might wanna consider mounting the wastegate the other way, so that the dumptube is going towards the downpipe, and move the oil feed line away from the turbo manifold and as far away from any heat source as possible.

Looking good.

imported_honda1b6a 25-May-2007 11:57 AM

yea i guess i can turn the brass fitting around so it points in the other direction, i do have extra slack in the oil line.

As far as the wastegate,, i put it in that direction becuase of room, the dp side is very cluttered, does having it pointed on the other side effect performance or function??

zeeman 25-May-2007 12:19 PM

a slim rad fan will really free up a lot of space, they aren't that much $$$ either.

brianmcgaugh 25-May-2007 04:04 PM

Looks pretty good, what obd are you?
id move the gate the other was as well, and get some sort of dump tube if u dont have one at least some flex pipe pointing down, if you keep it that way the turbo will just suck in hot air and youll have hi IAT's and be loosing power. also with that gate keep checking the diagpram the xspower gate diagprahms tend to crack/rip seen it first hand.
Id try to have less fittings for your feed as well, looks like theres 3 or 4 there.
And lastly u should post the full size pics :P
with imageshack use the "Embeddable Code" for "Forums"

Thanks for the compilment, im really proud of the car, since im only 18 and done all the work myself:)) Its obd0,, the dump tube isnt finished yet im working on that now.. Also tryin to get the dp done, its like 2" too short lol..

Then gotta run the vacuum lines and a manual boost controller, after that its all in Zeemans hands :)

Looks good. Next mod after tuning should be brakes. Go fast /stop fast.

brianmcgaugh 27-May-2007 07:05 PM

youll be using bre then crome is obd1.
you should convert to obd1

imported_kIeRaN 27-May-2007 07:58 PM

what kind of clutch are u using? so far looks pretty good man

zeeman 27-May-2007 08:01 PM

he will be.....if he wants me to tune it...lol...j/k
BRE/turboedit sucks ass compared to crome, and the quality of the tune with crome will greatly surpass one with an obd-0 rom editor. Crome is much more user-friendly and has so many more features (that work), and the last thing you want is a pissed off tuner thats frustrated with the software....haha. I always say, use what your tuner recommends, if they aren't comfortable or don't like a specific system for whatever reason don't use it....or at least don't use them to tune your car.
To my knowledge BRE doesn't even have a proper closed loop control, and trying to tune in open loop is rediculous.

Are you going to turn the wastegate the other way and run a dumptube sal?

imported_honda1b6a 27-May-2007 10:30 PM

The car is not completed in the pics lol. Im not going to be turning the wastegate around cuz IMO thats pointless, im building a dumptube that will exit near the ground (no lil short sh1t haha).

Car has a "racing" clutch, thats what the previous owner told me but im not 100% sure, the pedal feel is harder that other crxs tho.

Fawkk lol,, i hope we can do it with BRE, i dont want to be spending more cash converting the car to obd1 lol. Work your magic haha. Andrew i think will be alright, your awesome at tuning:)

imported_honda1b6a 27-May-2007 10:36 PM

can tuning be done with BRE, im gettin a lil worried now haha i really miss my vtec lol

zeeman 28-May-2007 01:44 AM

it can, but i don't like to use it (no closed-loop control is whack and IMO makes tuning very difficult), you had an obd1 dizzy (lol), the harness/ecus don't cost very much (compared to what a blown engine costs).
Are you gunna run the dumptube right in front of your oil feed line?
Are you just gunna put a filter on the end of the turbo? Or some sort of pre-turbo intake pipe?

imported_honda1b6a 28-May-2007 02:33 AM

LOL dont rub it in, i know i did have a obd1 dizzy, now im looking for one.. I moved the oil line today,, the filter im not sure on, there isnt enough room to put the filter straigght on,, gonna make a intake pipe for the turbo with a k&n filter!

The car will be converted to obd1, the hunt for a stupid dizzy begins lmaooo

imported_honda1b6a 29-May-2007 11:25 PM

just an update, got my dp welded today lol at A/A, wow i didnt expect to pay 180 bucks frig.

came accross a small problem, i dont have a downpipe gasket:(, should i use gasket material and some high temp silicone?

zeeman 29-May-2007 11:50 PM

i'm just using high temp silicone on mine, and its holding up fine.

imported_chris_v2 29-May-2007 11:52 PM

all ive ever used was silicone

imported_honda1b6a 30-May-2007 12:01 AM

thats good to hear lol, on the hot side of the turbo where the dp bolts up, theres like a 1" hole??? anybody know what this is or its purpose.

imported_chris_v2 30-May-2007 12:03 AM

your wastegate flapper
