big trouble...pros please help

basically i recently did an engine swap into my 1999 Civic SI
after everything hooked up...i tried to turn on the car, battery connected but the car wouldn't start...
it doesn't even have the cranking sound
so i went to do a compression test,
it reads 0 as well
like seems like pistons don't move or whatever...
so i opened up the valve cover..when i tried to start the engine
all i see were the cams, cam gears, time belt rotating, and thats all
so what are the possibilities causing this...
or is it the engine is dead or blown
please help this noob asap, thanks

well....where did u get the engine from?

zeeman 27-Sep-2005 08:37 AM

are you getting spark? fuel?

imported_gatherer 27-Sep-2005 03:19 PM

if the cam was moving the crank had to be moving... (since the starter is connected to the flywheel which is connected to the crank ...

anyways it's rotating so the questions as listed above...

1) spark?
2) Fuel?
3) how did you perform the compression test?

imported_kIeRaN 27-Sep-2005 05:47 PM

sounds like u did the compression test wrong :P

yeah, timing belt moves the crank, cam gears and gears....so the pistons were moving too

ok....the mechanic did the compression test for me bascially...spark...he took off the spark plugs to test it...and there was fuel pumping up
all i hear were something rotating when i tried to start the car...and no others...
and compressions for all cyclinder are all 0, not 10, not 30...they are all 0....what are the possiblitlies?

I think your tech would've done a leak down test to figure out why you have 0 psi.

bronx 27-Sep-2005 11:04 PM

are you sure the pistons and rods are in the motor???

4ever 27-Sep-2005 11:06 PM

yes....they're in the motor

imported_Cablerat 28-Sep-2005 12:04 PM

your tech doesn't know how to do a compression test.

Why is there fuel going in? Any tests I've done, I've always pulled the fuel pump fuse.

Is your timing belt on correctly? A misaligned timing belt can give you a zerio compression reading.

LEITNER 29-Sep-2005 08:11 AM

geez just not enough info. what engine?

imported_starboy869 29-Sep-2005 02:16 PM

I think it's a B18C5 from his msn conversation.

I would check out the timing belt and see it's correctly aligned then get a correct Leakdown test done.
