Best way to remove a LCA bushing

Already talked to matt (Loudsubz), he says burn the fawker out. Which is what I'm going to initally do.

Are there anyother methods I should try?

(I'll have access to air tools...)

simple to remove... take drill and drill out the rubber in numerous spot and then move the drill around connecting all the holes , use a drill bit with a diameter close to the size f the rubber.

after it's out take a sawzall and cut the outer metal ring on 2 opposite sides.

then take air chiseal and go for it it'll come out...

advisable to use a press.

Appropriate sized socket from your socket set and a press. Place the socket over the bushing and go to town. Don't be alarmed by the loud banging noise once the bushing gives. It's the best part!

You could also use a ball joint remover/installer.
You know, the big 'C' clamp looking tool.

Installation of the bushings are easy. Use a vise with some lube. Pops right in with ease.

That's what I was thinking as well... heat up the entire arm.

I think I'm just going to take one day and do as many bushings as I can. Get out the torch and let it rip!!

no it wont.. Its not hot enought to change the internal properties of the metal. A torch is much worse, especially if you cool it with water, it puts a fast freeze on the grain structure making it very brittle. If you use a torch drop it in a bucket of sand once youve got it all burnt out so it cools slowly.

Found a set of lower and upper arms for 10 a set... getting those and will just swap the assembly in with new bushings.

Thanks for the advice on the sand, I'll do that, makes more sense it wont expand then contact as rapidly, if i used water.
