Best Suspension For 99 Si
hey i have a 99 si that i need to do suspension on. I have ractive coilovers which i know are **** but i was wondering if i get kyb agx's will that be fine? i had a buddy that had that setup and it rode great. or shall i get like kyb gr2's with a spring ? what kinda spring should i get i have 16 inch wheels like 40 series tires so i wanted lil wheel gap. what do you guys recommend?

i have kyb agxs on h&r race and they ride so nice on the soft setting and they are firm enough on the hardest setting that you can toss your car around corners...
kyb gr2s are stock replacement shocks and if u are dropping your car then its not a good idea cause you will just wear them out and you wont get a firm/responsive enough ride... you could even get koni reds... they aren't too expensive, but they will be much better... your ractive coilovers are probably not that bad, but since you are on stock suspension your shocks/struts can't keep up with the spring rate so thats why you are more than likely not getting the best balanced ride like you did before. |
suspension for 99 si
so your saying i should get the h&r race? how low does it sit? and do you have alot of camber issues?i need new tires on my 16's so if i get a lil bigger sidewall to clean up that wheel gap it might be ok . kevin_foster_19@hotmail.com e mail me some pics of your car so i get an idea before i go spend a grand lol

i think the h&r race sit a little low for kyb agxs, maybe koni yellows might handle them better, but they work just fine for me... my car is getting a gsr swap done and i should be getting it back tonight and if i do I will snap a pic of it and send it over. h&r race sit really low like 2.5" or something, but you can always go with h&/r sports which don't sit as low, but they are awesome springs... with kyb agxs you would have an awesome ride,

best suspension for 99 si
i am kinda tight for cash so what about that kyb gr2's for now and the h&rs? i also have a 91 hatch for sale im trying to sell with dohc zc and matching tranny if you know anyone interested

i wouldn't use gr2s with h&r race springs because you are sitting too low for a stock replacement shock... they wont be able to keep up with the stiff springs and will eventually wear out...
if anything, do the shocks/struts first because even on stock springs your ride will kick ass... imagine max setting on your stock springs... your ride would be super stiff! |
depending how low you want to go. H&R Race are 2.5"/2.25" I believe while Sports are 1.75/1.5 and Neuspeed Sport is 2"/1.75" I believe.
I say go atleast KYB AGX or if the funds are there...Tokico Illumina GR2 won't handle the stiffer rates very well as they are meant more as OEM replacement like Mike said |

H&R Sports with Koni Red shocks. No complaints at all. The drop and the ride were both perfect IMO.

cheap and best do not go together at all. to get the best you must spend the $$. for your application, i'd just get simple aftermarket struts and some springs to lower your car if appearance is what you're after. on H&R race springs your car will be dumped. you'll be tucking all 4 corners which is not what you're after right? you want a little gap so just get sport springs. as for struts, just get koni reds, it will do the job.

Bilstein is the only way to go. Not a bouncy ride and u get a really good suspension.

maybe for a VW

Eibach Sportlines and Koni yellows is what im using with 16" wheels.. i sit a tad bit lower then Dumbassi it seems.. or maytbe my tires are bigger and since i run on 40 profile tires you can see what your car would look like since u mentioned 16" with 40s.. ill take pics 2morrow

Sports on black steelies and 195/55/15 tires
https://img.photobucket.com/albums/v...verkill/ps.jpg With 205/40/17 https://img.photobucket.com/albums/v...l/IMG_2420.jpg The one with steelies is a tad lower since the springs were fully settled in that one but in the 17's pic they were new |
