An intake is an intake. It's a metal tube with a filter on the end. Any of the above intakes are fine so long as you have a quality filter on the end.

THis is for a Rsx...
AEM CAI vs INJEN

Aem has almost 5 more WHP. They dont test ractive cause....well you know. ITs going to have a simular difference on a GSR. I went from a ractive to a AEM on my mine and it kicks ***.

I agree the AEM would be my first choice. I would also go with a vibrant intake, they perform quite well.

i chose generic....... aem intakes are pricey......and the only real difference is that the inside of their tubing is coated with a thermal coating to keep temps down........ personally, im just as happy with a generic make that ill stick a k&n filter on

I choose DIY

Why?

There are a few problems with the AEM system, however. The first is that it’s made of aluminum. Aluminum is lightweight, but is also an excellent conductor of heat. Thermoplastic and silicone would be better, like the Iceman and PRM systems, but steel works as well as aluminum (better in cact) with only a small weight increase over aluminum, plastic, or silicone. The AEM systems are ceramic coated, which helps block heat, but they only ceramic coat the OUTSIDE. Another problem is price – the retail price of an AEM system is $250.

Finally, some of you have been curious about the ceramic paint vs. the AEM vs. the Iceman. I had an AEM intake for 2 years, and I have a friends with Icemans. We did a test, which involved driving in stop and go traffic for about an hour in 70F degree dry weather. Once the under hood temperatures were good and hot, we popped our hoods. We felt the upper-most portion of the pipe, because that is the section of the pipe exposed to the most heat. The AEM pipe was VERY hot, almost so hot it hurt to touch. The Iceman was hot as well, but nowhere near as hot as the AEM. My intake system with the ceramic paint on the outside and inside was cool to the touch - I am not kidding. The exact words my friend (with the Iceman) said after feeling my intake was "damn, that's cold!" I don't know if it was that cool because the piping is steel or because it is double-coated, but basically I am telling you this so you are not hesitant to use the steel piping because it will "get hot". It won't.

I vote PRM! Bust out any dyno chart comparing that. We did many test's on it. I had an AEM but after the test's I kept the PRM. We used a laser temp sensor to take accurate temp. readings of the throtle body, the plenum and exaust manifold, we kept the temp. as close as possible for each intake tested and the PRM came out on top. This was done on a dyno over approx. 5 hour's. I also know the owner of PRM so I get pretty good deal's for friends.

there is a reason why aem outperforms the others, quality design and a quality filter, not like your typical RACTIVE or VIBRANT, those my friends are teh ricer brands of choice

So if I make my own intake, which is the same diameter pipe that AEM uses, and use a Green ot K&N filter on the end, and it has the same bends as AEM, and even stays a bit cooler than AEM, Im a ricer????

Point taken.....

injen or AEM

ractive / no name intakes arent designed as well as the top names..

ractive is the same as vibrant.. same company.. they both dont have nice dynos to prove it..

but i guess its kinda true when people say an intake is an intake.. as long as you got a K&N cone filter on it... its good

If your engine still pretty stock......then it doesn't mater. A pipe is a pipe. Like I'm sure some poeple can feel a 5HP difference. most can't.

Until you do some engine work, you will NEVER see the possiblities that an intake can really give you.

you have a point I don't think the small 5hp gain is going to be felt although once the exshaust piping is all fixed up that 5hp provided by the intake goes up because air flow is increased right throughout the system... sort like the saying a chain is only as good as it's weakest link ...well the air flow is only as good as the most restrictive part.
