Best Engine For A '88 Civic Dx!!!!

allo peepllzzz i just wanted some advice on what would be the best engine to put in my 88DX keeping in mind that i only have like $1000...what would be the fastest ENGINE to put in it for that price...and another thing if i could install a v-tec to my engine and if its worth it.....thnx.........

D16Z6... around that price range. Contact Altech...

or a zc motor... but the d16z6 motor has vtec and will probably be in better shape

1000 bux I'd just go for a SOHC zc...it's pretty much a d16a (si) and get a zc tranny (has close ratio gears) because even if you get a sohc vtec motor you will get your *** handed to you by a stock si becasue your tranny is crapola....than if you want some real hp do a ghetto turbo kit... see homemadeturbo.com becoem a member you will never learn mroe in one place you will never regret it
