I will tell you right now, this will get debated left and right on this issue. Do your research, I believe there is a page on Honda tech that lists all the pros and cons on all the engines available. That should help you make your decision.

Just becuase I am an nice guy.....I hear y'all snickering ......here is the website that I was mentioning, this should be more than enough for you to make your desicion.

depends on a few things....budget, goals, use, and which car its going into.
If the budget allows go k20.
What do you plan on using this for?....street driven daily driver, project car, track car?
What are your power goals? 150whp?....b18c1 (gsr) 300whp?....boosted b18b (ls)
Will you be doing the work yourself or having a shop do it? Because you will also have to take into account, in terms of your budget, labour rates at a shop.

Also, consider the fact that honda is releasing their new engines. Today they have released the regular civic engine, I believe it's still a k-series. It produces about 140 hp and 130 torque, and features i-vtec. The si model is rumoured to be in the 200 hp range.
This means several things. As more k series engines are available, they will become more popular and it will cost less to get, and install them. Also the older engines, like the b-series might start dropping in price.
That's my reasoning, it may be wrong, but ill stay patient for now.

B16A is not a bad engine if you like getting up there in the revs. it's good fun y0 cuz you can drive it just like a normal civic up to 4000 rpm, so daily driving you won't notice a diff. but then friday comes around and you want a lil kick in the pants on the way home, you can kick it to 8000 rpm and really boogey.

however, if I was to do it.... I'd go GSR. however, you still havent' said what car it's going into. the car also makes a big difference.

very true....GSR looks pretty good also...sorry don't know the car yet...but its going to be an older hatch probaly 95-98, or a 2 door, can't really decide... hatch's are fair bit lighter...but personally I don't think they look as good as the 2 doors

EG hatch/coupe = 92-95
EK hatch/coupe = 96-00

Do some research as to what you want in a car first, then figure out the engine later. You really need to know what you are getting into first before asking all these questions.
