best all-season tires?
 

i'm really fed up with my firestone tires that came stock with the car...to keep this short, i'm looking for some tires thats good for all year round(dry,wet,slush,packed snows). i know u guys would be helpful.

what don't you like about your stock ones?

in the dry its loud and not as grippy, in wet its very unstable and slidy, in the winter its very very slippy

there is no such thing as a good all season tire. all season really means "no season". i think your best bet is to get some different tires for winter and summer.

at the end of the day it all comes to how much your willing to spend.
usually the more expensive the better the tire. you can see by the thread pattern aswell. however name brand factors into price aswell. imo i would get something that is used by dealers as stock tires for winter rims they tend to be the best bang for the buck and because dealers are using them you know that they are well thought about tires because they dont want people dying and crap. so call up a dealer and ask them what wheel/tire combo's they carry for winter and based on that select a tire.
you dont even have to purchase it there you can always take the make and model and go to a tire shop and get it from there.

or go to a tire specialist and ask them.
usually asking here will give you a biased opinion on what is good and what is not and it tends to be inaccurate cuz people dont deal with tires on an hourly basis like a tire shop.

i don't want to have any winter tires this year...i just wanna have some all season tires. i have no time exchanging tires back and forth

BF goorich traction tires are the best ones if ever used, i had them on my hatch, and i used them for a year thens old my car, definityly look into those

First off, I'm surprised that you have firestones on your '05. My '04 came with bridgestone potenza re92's stock. Well, I guess I got the si, and you didn't so maybe that's the difference.

Anyways, get winter tires, don't be cheap. If you be cheap, suffer the consequences.

There are no good all season tires like most people suggest. Get decent or good winter tires, and get good or decent summer tires.

Remember, you tires are probably the most important part of your car don't take it for granted. Tires help you accelerate, brake faster, and gives you control of your car. Crappy tires, will give you crappy performance.

Don't skimp out on the important things. You have money to purchase an HID kit, but yet you don't spend money on the most important part of your car. :crazy:

My car came with firestone FR690's, they were HORRIBLE. Even when they were new, they had little or no grip on light snow and wasn't the greatest when it was wet.

I personally have summer/winter tires...but If you don't want to get 2 sets, might want to consider the goodyear assurance tripletred tires. Good traction when wet. It's no replacment for a good winter tire, but it's ok on light/deep snow.

Not sure if the price is current, but one of the better deals I found earlier this year for 185/70R14 was around $108 +tax (includes balancing and install) from tiredepot in thornhill.

im sorry but doesn't mean i bought myself an HID and i can purchased anything else...i work hard for my money and i wanna save some money too for something else not just for the car:crazy:

I've used both, and even a cheap winter tire (I just use the Canadian tire ones, ice tracks or whatever) is better IMO than a good all season in the winter....

that will cure your slippery traction problem, and when you have more money saved you can buy some nice summer tires to cure the noise problem

some of the cheapest tires you'll find are at cheap thrills in milton. sure it looks like a wrecking yard for wheels and tires and they have really strange hours, but they are a great bunch of guys and their prices can't be beat. cash is king!

I suggest you spend a few minutes researching about Pirelli P3000 Cinturato all seasons. I dont know if anyone else on the forum is using them but i have been using them for the past 9 months (17000Kms) and i must say im very satisfied.

I have the stock size (185/65-14 for the 99 EK). The tread wear is very very even and still lots of it left after this much driving. They are a little noisy but it doesnt hurt.

RE92s are the most horrible bridgestones ever. No traction in rain at all...i had them for a while but then i replaced them with Pirelli.
