your timing would not be off if you only changed the alternator and that belt...

however if you changed the timing belt thats a different story

what you are saying makes no sense

does your car still idle at 2000 rpm?

did you put a NEW alternator in?

is the external ELD functioning????? <--- most relevant!

cuz if the ELD detects high current draw it bumps idle, sounds to me like your ELD is fuct (BTW, ELD = electrical load detector)

or the wires are ****ed causing a short and resulting in a high current draw forcing the eld to up the idle

Maybe the belt's too tight

The Haynes shows the ELD to be under the fuse box housing under the hood.. I've checked, it's not there.. 93 Si.. Nope..

ok heres the problem, changed my alternator got it started by jump starting it cause by battary was drained. So i put a newer battary in and it would start without a jump start so i drove it around for half an hour. Next day it wouldn't start so my question is do you think this alternator is messed up or do you think i should have drove it arond more? How long should i leave the car running to keep the charge? Thx

your alternator is not a battery charger

it's no good to use it to charge a fully drained battery

anyways, maybe your battery is dead and won't hold a charge?

No all the ef's have the ELD, i've found that only the ones made in japan do, the ontario ones do not. I have the honda repear guide wiring diagrams (got photocopies from the dealership) and it says that the ELD is on US models only.
