battery light?

ok here is my problem, last night i was coming back from a show in guelph (protest the hero, amazing show btw ) and i had my stereo running, 800wt amp 2 12inch subs 8 guage wire it was ripping pretty hard and all of a sudden my battery light came on so i thought my engine died or something i shut of the music and everything was working fine, now 10 mins later the light goes off, so i think ok wtf i turned my system back on and a few seconds later the light is back on, i drove about 40 mins home with this light on, so my first thoughts were alternator is done, but that cannot be since i drove way to far for my car to be just running off the battery, so now comes my next question, i drove to work today started fine light was still on. after work i drove to rogers video np, then when i came back to my car it started fine but she sounded weak. so im thinking maybe my belt is slipping? or something of this nature. by the time i got home when i would signal my tach and spedo went dead and my lights on the cluster were starting to dim

also 2 months back i bought a cluster from a scraper just trying to let u guys know as much info as possible, any suggestions would be greatly appreciated, also when i sold my crx in september i got a brand new battery for my civic.

Test the batt and see how many volts it at... While the car is running with no stereo and another time with the stereo on.

the alternator isnt charging right, thats why under tremendous load the light comes on and thats why after a couple short trips the battery was weak on start up.

goto crappy tire/midas or whatever and get them to check the charging system, its usually free to do this...but if its the alternator and you dont tend to this soon ur gonna be replacing the battery not too long after

get the problem sorted out asap

you might just have been draining more power with the system going then the alternator could replenish?

ok well i switched batteries and when i did so my lights turned on, but the switch was off, wtf? i had to disconnect the battery to get them to turn off, also when i put the other battery in the car wouldnt start but there was power, i noticed im a little low on oil as well, basically no oil, which is weird cause i added a quart less than 2 weeks ago and there was plenty of oil in there, im assuming im burning a ton of oil or something, another thing, i starrted the car wit the first battery in there and disconnected the negative and the car shut down

alternator is shot..
when you do get it running it's running from just the battery..
that's why when you pull the battery wires it croaks..
if yer alternator was alright it's still keep running

yer headlight problem?? beats the shyt outta me..was there a ufo nearby??

walmart baby haha
accually this is weird, it started fine this morning and the battery light was not on....
now when i disconnected the negative terminal it shut down, so it still leads me to think its the alternator, but im gonna boot down to crappy tomorrow and have them check out the charging system like someone said, hopefully its free cause im poor, if worst comes to worst ill try and pick up the cheapest used/rebuilt alt i can get and do it myself, it looks like a bitch to do as well, its located under the engine mount on the drivers side and my cars lowered which makes it hard for me to jack it up, meh i knew it would come back to screw me i wonder if i could use the ramps to get my car off the ground

Alternator rebuild or new rebuilt.. but battery could also be shot due to the abuse it has taken being drained.
