battery

where can i get a non maitenence battery from.i went to walmart, but i don't like the idea of pouring water in a battery. Also ,my battery is soo bad, i doubt that it charges. I think that my alternator is working double. Is that why my car is picking up a lot slower...............also ,i have another question, does the spark plug only give 1 spark when u start the car ,or do hey continually spark every time to ignite the gas inside the chamber.........

I don't think an over worked alt is the sole reason you're car isn't picking up as fast.

I could be a tonne of other porblems, (depending on how old the car is) MT or Auto, when was the last time you changed the Spark plugs.

And yes they spark everytime in the combustion chamber, so anywhere from 1000-5000 times a min. (depending on when you shift.)

What you are thinking about are glow plugs in desiel engines, they us a spark plug like thing to assist in starting a cold desiel block. But like the name suggest, those plugs don't spark they glow and once the engine's running it stops.

Maintenance free battery? Crappy Tire (my favourite store). It might be worthwile to call one of are affiliate dealers too. Sometimes dealers have good deals on this stuff, believe it or not.

If your car is picking up slower, especially in damp weather, you might also want to look at distributor cap, wires, plugs.

Sprark plugs fire every time:

A) (If the car has a distributor) the piston reached Top Dead Center (TDC), or every revolution of the engine. i.e., if your engine is turning at 3,000 revolutions per minute (RPM), each spark plug ignites 3,000 times per minute or 50 times a second!

B) (If the car has integrated spark modules...aka coils on plugs) a piston is entering the "power" stroke. Which is once every two revolutions. i.e., if your engine is turning at 3,000 revolutions per minute (RPM), each spark plug ignites 1,500 times per minute or 25 times a second! That is why "New" spark plugs last a lot longer...they work less than the older ones.

SLOW? I'd check your spark plugs... You'd be surprised at what a difference it makes... Oh.. try some injector cleaner.. Works wonders as well.

wow hold on a sec did you just recomend a crappy tire battery big no-no . Crappy tire batteries are the worst of the lot, go with delco if you don't want the walmart one, delco are available at costco i believe they are maintenace free. Funny whnei bought my battery from walmart for my old car i never added water it ran fine, weird maybe one of the fruits that worked there was lost in his department.

I've had many problems with finding Civic sized no maintenance batteries. To my knowledge, Lightning Audio made a competition gel cell battery a while ago that fits the 51R size, but other than that... Optima doesn't make one that fits...and I haven't been able to locate any other manufacturers either. =(
