Hey guys, today I was taking my front drivers side suspension out so I can put in new bumpstops and when I was assembling the suspension and about to bolt up the upper ball joint, the bolt wouldn't screw in past half.

I tried to tighten up the bolt but no luck, it will just get to a certain point and even with air tools, the bolt will just seem like it will fall off the screw or will just spin.
I was wondering what should I do???? I can't get the bolt screwed in to firmly hold the suspension.

What I've done is screwed in a different bolt, just to keep everything in place so that the car will be able to sit on the ground.

Does anybody know what I should do??
I have called some parts stores and they said they don't sell the upper ball joint and they don't have the upper control arm.

I was thinking of either go to the autowreckers and buy a whole new control arm, or if possible, buy the Ball joint stud.

plz help, I need some major advice

need a new ball joint man... get a machine shop to press it in, or like you said grab a whole new upper control arm from the wrecker.

ok, I think I might just go with the wreckers, but normally, do wreckers sell upper control arms with ball joints????

yes they do sell ball joints with the upper arm ....

they only sell upper control arms with ball joints, u CANT just buy a ball joint for it - its pressed in etc.

only the bottom ball joint u can buy


if the ball joint bolt is spinning when trying to tighten the bolt on it, u need to apply pressure/weight to stop it, then try tightening

.... I bought a balljoint by itself.... It was the lower balljoint. I had the same problem as you, the thread was totally gone. We hammered it out... didnt need to be pressed.

umm i believe anything > 4th gen both balljoints are replaceable.

lower is, upper you must buy whole new arm.

that's what i had to do. my upper ball joint was gone and nobody sells just the ball joint for 5th gens, you have to buy the whole arm. it sux man...
