Ball joint camber kit is hitting strut tower
Hey guys, I really need some advice on this issue. I have a 2000 Si coupe on KYB AGX's and Tein S-Tech's. I bought an Eibach ball joint camber kit, (5.67135K part number, It is stamped SPC though). Ok so I had the camber kit installed at Crown steering and brake, and after I noticed this like loud thud coming from the front over large bumps and potholes.
I thought that my strut was bottoming out so I jacked up the car to check everything out, and this is what I found. The top of the balljoint is hitting the strut tower. There are dents on the top where the struts bolt up. This thing is hitting hard, and to be honest, the thought of it breaking scares the hell out of me. My car sits pretty low, I'm basically almost tire tucking, but I never had this problem before I had the camber kit installed because the stock balljoint did not have a nut on the top of it. Is this installed correctly? I was thinking of drilling a hole through the strut tower so the bolt could go through instead of hitting it. Is this a good idea or not? Is there something that I can do about this. If it comes to it I will just install stock springs again. Thanks for looking. Here are some pics I took. you should use a different style kit |
how does your upper a arm hit your subframe :confused:. anyways, are you sure it's not installed upside down? a few people have installed camber kits upside down and caused the a arm to bang on the shock tower.

Sorry, I meant to say strut tower, I'm just stressed a bit right now. I did not install it, Crown Steering and Alignment did. The nut on top of the balljoint is hitting. The instructions say its itstalled properly:

get another style kit like complete control arms or raise up the car...SPC camber kits have been known to do things like this...take a picture if u can with the wheels on the ground, I wanna see the static clearance

I just took it off the jack so it will go down maybe 1/4 inch or so

something isnt right...there should be way more than 2" clearance between the control arm and the subframe...see how the portion that goes through the spindle us like 2x the length of the stock balljoint? thats adding to your problem along with that nut on the top

it dosent seem like its going 2 make a difference but u have the blt on the tip its off center can u move it so its on the outside of the car that wil give u an extra mm or so but it dosent look like its going 2 help
i got some camber kit that goes on the other end of the upper controll arm it is an ajuster 4 the 2 bolsts that go under the hood it replaces the stock bushings and stuff and there is no height difference that 2 me looks like a v bad desighn |

Omni, Skunk2, and such. Raise up the car or change springs will be more work.
