Bah! O2 Sensor.

Replacing my exhaust manifold this evening and no matter how careful I was, I managed to snap the thing off the threads

Call up my local Can Trash and they want $220 for a new one!

Is that about right for my D16Z6 engine? If not where is a good place?

Thank you

snapped what thing? the o2 sensor or the exhaust mani?

o2 sensor is like 80 bucks.. for a exh. manifold go to the wreckers or search the boards.

Threads are still in the manifold, I was installing my new header which instigated this. The old manifold had a rediculous crack in it.
Is the $80 OEM?

chris_si98 26-Jul-2006 10:58 PM

no..

call honda and find out. From what i remember when i worked at crappy tire we charged like 90$ for the o2. Try NAPA.. they might have it for cheaper.

edit: actually i think it was more like 120$. it's been too long.. i forget

It's pretty clear that I'll have to look around, crappy tire won't be my last stop.

Hey, go to Standard auto wreckers up in scarborough. I was there a week ago and seen about 3 d15b vtec and one d16z6 and they all had everything still on them...except the vtec solenoids which i took.

Good luck getting the O2 outta of a junkyard car.

Been there, done that.. Don't waste your time.

You can call them and ask their sales dept, they will say in the yard... If it was easy to remove, they would remove them and sell them in the office, like they do with most useful parts.

Thaks for all the input guys.

I called my local parts store (other than CT) and they have one for an easier to swallow $90.
From what I understand you have to use your old connector for these.

What is the best method to join the wires together, considering that it will be in a high heat environment?

I had thought of butt end connectors.

There is a clip.. You should NOT be cutting and re-connecting wires..

The O2 you are buying should have wires and a clip at the end that will connect to clip on your engine side. If it doesn't, don't buy it. Spend $30 more for the right O2..

Call up John's Auto Parts. Just picked up one for an H22 for $80. It was an NGK sensor.
