Bad PCV???

What are the side effects of a bad PCV? The engine is a Z6 outta of a 93. I know how to test it just haven't got the chance.

Thanks in advance...

pull the pvc valve.

Shake it. If it makes a clicking sound it's still good.

A new one will set you back about $6

rattling does nothing. Many bad pcv valves have been put back in because they rattle.

Here is the proper procedure to check a pcv vavle.

1. Take the pcv out , leaving it connected to the vaccum line

2. Slap the throttle wide open for a second then let it come down. The ball in the valve should snap open then shut. If this happens the pcv is still good.

if your not a *****, remove it completely and put your mouth on it and see if it works it doesnt taste to bad... sure way to tell too...

yes, creating a loss of vaccum you ****ing tard. therefore bringing the plunger to the frotn position, then when the throttle plate closes, it creates a large vaccum, thus pulling the plunger back.

Dont **** aroudn with pcv valves, ive seen 2 motors blow because bad pcv valves were "rattled" as a test and were bad.

Huh? I may totally missing something else here, but why would you be under jackstands for that? And why would you need 2 people? You can just rev the engine from the throttle plate...

Haynes and Chilton both say to pull the valve while the car is idling, then block the valve.. If it clicks it's ok. You should notice minor idle change as well.

well on a d series you likely have to jack up the car and reach from underneath to access the pcv (underneath the intake manifold i belive or at least on the bottom side of it) while on a b series it can be accessed from the top of the engine so no need to jack up the car.

Ahh just what I wanted to hear .. So it should be visible when I pop the hood according to that link its on the intake manifold under the fuel rail (For a B16A, not sure because he didn't mention it)? Maybe I should take a picture for future reference. Haha at first I was like .. Man this is so not right, one guy thought A PCV valve was a breather (The small K&N Thing on the valve cover haha)
