Unhappy bad ground?

hey everyone, i wonder if anyone had this problem with there 5th gen civic. Alrite, i was getting no power going to my fuel pump so i traced the wires back to the main relay, i used to my test lite to tru and see if the power wire had power going to it so i attached the wire from my test lite to a ground and poked the wire. To my surprise the fuel pump turned on (key was in the on position). So anyways, my guess is there is a bad ground somewhere unde rthe dash, only thing is its really hard to follow those wires because they go in and up through the dash and i cant even see in there. If any of u guys can help me i will be so happy happy happy. thanks in advance

Ground for your fuel pump is beside the driver's side seat.

So check for continuity of grounds at the main relay. If you find a bad one, simply replace the wire - unless you wanna pull the dash and find out why the ground is bad??

Well, if you main relay is fine, and your wiring to the main relay is fine, it maybe the FLR output on your ECU, or a bad connection from the ECU to the main relay.

high resistance in ground probobly unlikely...get a volt meter check the voltage drop of the wire circuit...sounds to me liek a bad relay from what you describes you jsut completed the circuit with the test light....get a volt meter and put the test light away...check the voltage drops of the wires then get back to me...check the relay etc....

there can only to these possibilities...opens shorts and ground and high resistance...opens would read 12 v on volt meter...shorts would pop fuse and same with unintectional grounds which would read with the ground disconnected.
