b20z headgasket

I have been told by a reliable source to get a b18b stock headgasket...BUT then my mechanic told me to get a cometic...Both stated to get a arp headbolts. Now, which headgasket do i get and do i get a high compression

chris_si98 14-Aug-2006 03:01 PM

perfect......now for my scond question...will my stage 2 cam fit...i was told to sell my stage 2 cam and get a factory b16 one... is there a way i can make my stage 2 cam fit without shaving the pistons

imported_tsr_75th 14-Aug-2006 03:41 PM

always match the headgasket to the block. btw whats your setup?

nadir 14-Aug-2006 03:45 PM

question is...im doing a b20 vtec...b20z block...and a b16 head with omni valve springs and retainers.. NOW, i have a stage 2 cam. I was told by defcon racing that it wont fit..ITS TOO BIG..he has a buddy club spec 3 and its perfect. A skunk 2 stage 2 is way too big and the pistons will hit everything. NOW i just bought this cam, he said i would have to shave the pistons down a bit. HE is assuming, he hasnt seen my build. ANyone have any experience...

nadir 14-Aug-2006 03:46 PM

Or should i just throw on a type r

imported_tsr_75th 14-Aug-2006 03:48 PM

im assuming hes referring to your valve to piston clearances? are you running aftermarket pistons?

nadir 14-Aug-2006 03:50 PM

nope factory

imported_plzbeleiveit 14-Aug-2006 03:54 PM

Tell the guy to notch bigger valve releifs in your stock pistions, if that guy says the cams still wont fit, than bring your car somewhere else.

imported_tsr_75th 14-Aug-2006 03:54 PM

there the problem then. if your gonna run a stage 2 cam. it will work alot better with an aftermarket forged, high compression piston. and you can buy them to account for valve to piston clearance. i know when guys are doing the k24/k20 hybrids with accord and element blocks, custom pistons are needed for the same reason. crv and tsx are different story. but sorry to get off track

nadir 14-Aug-2006 03:58 PM

notc bigger valve reliefs in my pistons eh....i havent heard of this before...i hope he can do this with a dremal

nadir 14-Aug-2006 03:59 PM

and the pistons dont need to be removed..and can he do it accuratly or dremel is good enough..also, is it safe and how epneive is it to do

nadir 14-Aug-2006 04:00 PM

do u guys seggest buying a golden eagle vtec kit...Or use factory dowels....Also, i ordered gsr arp head studs...just rite now..i passed on the cometic head gasket and im going to honda to order a factory b20 head gasket...I was told to order a b18b heaggasket from acura

nadir 14-Aug-2006 04:01 PM

nadir 14-Aug-2006 04:31 PM

chris_si98 14-Aug-2006 04:45 PM

imported_tsr_75th 14-Aug-2006 04:51 PM
