b20vtec VS lsvtec
so, stock which is better? moded which is better? and why

obviously the b20 will be the block of choice either way. The added .2L of displacement will result in more torque and low end power.
But building a lsvtec would be cheaper IMO. Use p30 (b16) pistons to get the compression up and some ITR cams for a budget build, along with the ITR intake manifold and throttle body and you'll have a setup capable of making nice power. Toss some ARP rod bolts in there and balance the rotating assembly and you'll be able to rev that thing pretty high. With the p30 pistons you'll be able to use different cams if you wanted to, provided you had the valvetrain to accomodate the bigger cams. Other than the pistons/sleeves the b20 and LS are the same engine (practically). If you plan on using a stock b20 bottom end, get the b20z, it has slightly higher compression pistons in it. |

stock b20vtecs are safe to 7500....8000 if ur feelin lucky.
Their one of my favourite engines to tune, lots of torque and nice top end. It doesn't take a whole lot with a good tune to hit 180whp and 140ft/lbs. |

k i found a couple for 700 for complete engines sound reasonable?
also this maybe a dumbass question lol but long block and short block does it matter? |
long block means the complete engine..shortblocks just the head

700 for a B20 longblock can be done, but there are cheaper deals out there, as low as 500. If you are going VTEC, the P75 head is useless to you so you are better off buying the bottom end to begin with, save you the hassle of parting things out.
Bottom end can start at 300 roughly. Either wait for partouts in classified or ask an importer for parts, slighly higher premium but less the wait time. |
